21/02/2005 - We needed an additional Tarp today so that's where my lunch break went. Got home to find more of the roof off, and Brian painted a sad picture of a number of problems with the pre-nail which Doug from Carters will be discussing with us. We've now got 2 tarps on the roof and the resultant wind tunnel is keeping the house nicely cool during the current warm conditions - let's hope the good weather keeps on.
Brian & Noa started on the main rafters, removed more of the existing roof, repositioned the tarp and spent some time having an onsite meeting with the Carters guys about the issues with the pre-nail trusses.
22/02/2005 - Craig came around today to plumb up the bathroom, we've found out that some of the fittings were wrong and he's also joyfully told me that we (which means me) have to dig a bunch of holes to find the original soak-pit and then we (again - probably me) can connect the NEW soak hole to the original one. I'm kinda looking forward to this job as I reckon I'll be able to swing a digger for a day and should be able to dump a bunch of the concrete from the steps and path into the soak pit too - saves the skip fee, but that's tempered by the fact that we'll probably need to get another skip to drop the clay from the hole in.
Since it was raining today (well, initially), the guys spent it inside getting the wardrobes in our room sorted out with the architraves which has made such a difference to the look! In the main bathroom, the guys fitted the bath cradle, fitted the bathroom door, z nailed the lean-to roof and spent some time matching the framing to the lower ceiling in the lounge.
Brian also needed to have a meeting with Dean (the architect) about the beam which runs down the valley of the roof as there are a few problems fitting the beam in the space avalible.
The tile underlay also went into the bathroom today and the vanity unit has been shunted next to the bath as Amanda now wants a space between the unit and the shower wall to hang a handtowel. The tiles around the bath will also run around the side of the vanity unit to give it additional protection from splashing boys :)
23/02/2005 - Another rainy day and the lads put the the new door handles through the hallway, Amanda got magnets on her wardrobe and the shower got nogged out.
24/02/2005 - The roof rafters and roof rafter support went in today - we've only been charged a half-day as Carters is picking up the cost of making good the mistakes with the trusses
25/02/2005 - Cut and lifted valley beam into place, started rafters joining into valley. Removed the last of the existing roof.
26/02/2005 - Arrgh - notebook harddrive crach this morning - details on the weekend will be sparse.
27/02/2005 - I was crook as a crook thing today, woke up with the headache deciding to make it's way from it's normal residence in the back of my head right up to behind the eyeballs, I made an effort to get up and about but ended up back in bed until the neighbour started gardening next door (with a spade, concrete, scraping sounds - eesh). Anyway - I got up and did a quick lawnmow and sortout of the grass which is left before heading back to bed feeling a bit foolish for trying, but satisfied that the grass and verges look a little tidier.
Really need to get the bin dumped and returned.
